Jeff Anderson, PMHNP-BC

jeff-andersonJeff, a long-term Idaho resident with a dedication to treating those with mental illness, received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Idaho State University in 1995. Since that time his work has been focused on the medical field as well as mental health.
His education began as a medic in the Army Reserve while attending college. After graduation from the ISU nursing program he was commissioned in the Navy Reserve as a psychiatric nurse. As a member of the Reserves he was deployed twice to Landstuhl Regional Medical center in Germany, the most recent in 2006 of Commander following more than 25 years of military service.
Jeff began his civilian nursing career at Caribou Memorial in Soda Springs, Idaho. In 1996 he went to work for State Hospital South in Blackfoot where within 2 years he was promoted to Director of Nursing of the Syringa Unit. This unit specialized in tre geriatric population. Here he gained experience in both direct patient care as well as administration, serving on many hospital wide committees focused on improving patient care.
In 2005 he began work at Eastern Idaho Regional Behavioral Health Center. After a year, he became a clinical supervisor charged with ensuring optimal patient care. Serving in this position for 7 years, he was an integral part of the entire process: from assessing a patient’s need for admission to safely returning individuals to the community. While there he worked with people of all ages and mental health backgrounds.
In May of 2013, Jeff graduated with a Masters in Nursing from the University of North Dakota as a Psychiatric Nurse P independent study work on the Treatment of Combat Related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Jeff is a Board Certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, willing to treat a patient from early childhood well into his or her golden years. He is licensed to provide diagnostic evaluations, medication management, psychotherapy, and much more. He currently accepts patients with Medicare, Medicaid, private insurances, as well as private pay.
Jeff devotes himself to finding innovative methods to provide mental health treatment to communities with few resources in areas of low population. He brings the perspective of 18 years as a registered nurse to the goal of helping people reach their highest level of functioning. He works hard to stay current with the latest treatment options and is continually increasing his knowledge base.
