Susan Nielson is a Licensed Master’s Level Social Worker. She considers it a privilege and honor to sit with people and hear their painful, heart sore stories. Susan believes in the powerful nature of connection and empathy. She works hard to connect with her clients and empathize with them. Susan has experience with marriage and family issues, blended family issues, acute mental illness, trauma, suicidal ideations, and personality disorders. Susan works with all populations, but cherishes her work with teenagers and young adults. By applying therapeutic techniques such as Psychodynamic Theory and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Susan believes that childhood experiences help build an individual’s personality as well as form the thinking patterns that affect their life. With great empathy for her client’s journey, Susan works to understand their childhood experiences and to change impeding thoughts about these events, in order to help them create a happier, more empowered, peaceful life. Susan also uses therapeutic techniques such as Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, and Person Centered Therapy.
